Traverse City For The Day

It's been at the very top of my bucket list for months to go on a summer road trip with my best friend, sleeping in the back of my car and camping the whole way. The dream started big, quite quite big, with the road trip destination being California, approximately 2,249.7 miles away. To an adventurous spirit like me, not big deal, that's 70% of the excitement, actually. To that adventurous spirit's parents, not a chance in hell. I had already planned out every detail and every stop by the time I got the big red X slashed through it, so I tucked it's brilliance and hope away for another day. Don't worry, that day will come if it's the last thing I do.

SO in the meantime, to hold us over, we took a day road trip to Traverse City, and it was so beyond beautiful. It was my first time going there after hearing so much about this cute little beach beachtown and it did not disappoint. It was the perfect temperature for walking around the strip of shops, cafe's and restaurants, and for taking a nap on the beach. The majority of our day consisted of popping in and out of independent shop after shop, browsing and envying everything we couldn't buy, being the "frugal" (aka cheap) teenage girls we are. The rest of our day, on the other hand, we got lost in a small, pass-through town for half an hour on the way there, climbed out onto the rocks on the shore, people watched, laughed and danced in the streets, drank delicious iced coffee, ate vegan wraps, admired architecture and aesthetics, and blasted our favorite music as the sun went down driving back home. Successful.
